PREDATOR & PREY: OPIOIDS’ SAVAGE EFFECT ON OUR COMMUNITIES WILL HOST SHOWING & PANEL AT STATE THEATRE NOVEMBER 4TH
Traverse City, MI: November 4th, 2018 – The documentary “Predator & Prey: Opioids’ Savage Effect on our Communities” will be shown Sunday, November 4th, 2018 at 10:30 am at the State Theatre, followed by a panel including those featured in the film, addiction treatment professionals, and Grand Traverse County Prosecutor, Bob Cooney.
“Predator & Prey” was created by the students of East Middle School’s Digital Media & Communications classes, for Grizzel’s Game, a charity hockey event that took place in February and honored Alex Grizzel, who lost his life to an overdose in 2017. Since then, the film has been packaged with a discussion guide and resource references courtesy of Addiction Treatment Services and Grizzel Game proceeds. Anne Grizzel, Nancy Dow, and Bob Cooney, all members of the board of directors of Families Against Narcotics -Grand Traverse Area (FAN-GTA), will be part of the panel discussion. East Middle School Digital Media teacher, Jody Mackey a member of the FAN-GTA advisory board, will moderate the panel discussion.
The documentary has taken on a life of its own, with requests for showings and related panels across the state. It has sparked a community wide conversation that has led to action by community members, including the creation of FAN. This showing gives the opportunity for a wider audience to view the film and have meaningful conversations about the opioid crisis in our community. The panel discussion will take place after the viewing and community members are welcome to participate. FAN and ATS will have an information tables at the event, and discussion guides will be available. This event is free and open to the public. Visit predatorandprey.org for more information.
