NMRE (Region-2) Prepaid Inpatient Health Plan

The Northern Michigan Regional (NMRE) entity is one of ten Prepaid Inpatient Health Plans (PIHPs) in the state of Michigan to manage the behavioral health (mental health, intellectual disability and substance use disorder) services for people enrolled in Medicaid.

The NMRE is the PIHP for 21 counties in northern Lower Michigan. This means the NMRE manages the Medicaid funding for the behavioral health services in the region. The NMRE is jointly owned by five Member Community Mental Health Services Programs (CMHSPs) which provide mental health services and supports to individuals with a mental health diagnosis or an intellectual disability. The NMRE also manages and coordinates prevention, treatment, and recovery support services for individuals with a substance use disorder.
